The History of LifePointe Alliance Church
A group of Christians known as the Mars C&MA Church rented the old "A & P Store" on Grand Avenue, Mars. The Church was organized on April 18, 1943. Rev. Lisbon lead the church at that time.
As God blessed, and the meetings progressed, this Christian group moved into the hall beside Monkeypatch School with Rev. McEllwain of Butler as the supply pastor.
In 1950, Rev. Floyd Meier became the pastor and ground was broken for a church and parsonage in Mars. The church was incorporated in 1954. Rev. Meier was the pastor until January, 1956.
From this time forward the fellowship was blessed with several wonderful pastors:
1956: Rev. O. Gene Bartmas became the pastor and the church building was dedicated. During his pastorate, the plans for the sanctuary level were drawn up by Mr. Austin Paterson and the church was dedicated on April 11, 1959. Rev. Bartmas ministered in the church until February1961.
In May of that same year, Rev. George Jones was the pastor and the church continued to prosper as he faithfully preached the Word. His pastorate continued until September 1965.
In November 1965, Rev. Jerry R. McCauley pastored the church. While he was there, the building known as “Fellowship House”. Pastor McCauley’s evangelistic zeal was evident in the services and souls were saved. Rev. McCauley pastored the church until February 27, 1972.
On May 21,1972 Rev. Paul Cope became the pastor, leading the church for over 39 years.
The Fellowship House was dedicated for church ministries on March 9, 1975. During the following years, the church experienced rapid growth and it was decided that a larger church should be built.
After much prayer, the church purchased six acres of ground along Route 228, where they had the ground-breaking for a new church and parsonage on May 25, 1983. The first service was held in the new church building on September 2, 1984. The following month, November 11, 1984, the new church building and parsonage were dedicated to the glory of God.
